After working as a firefighter, Todd Jostes launched a construction company. For a season, Todd Jostes experienced success with his construction firm until an unfortunate incident became the launchpad for a new career.

Mr. Jostes loves the outdoors, and his hobbies include fishing, fly fishing, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, shooting, and hunting, among others. On one hunting trip for javelina, he was turned around and got lost in the woods. With the training he did have, he survived three days without food until he was rescued. However, he connected with someone who helped him build his survival skills. Since this time, he has worked in this field, having enjoyed success as a wilderness survival teacher, radio host, presenter at an international expo, and winner of Discovery Channel's Bushcraft Buildoff.

Mr. Jostes also picked up two other professional interests, herbal medicine and woodworking. As a certified herbalist, he teaches others how to use medicinal plants to heal injuries and illnesses. His students are adults and children, with him hosting children's survival camps and more than 100 adult courses. He also harvests wild plants to make powders, ointments, and salves, of which he plans to sell online. Mr. Jostes has also made custom lamps, stone tables, cutting boards, and outdoor furniture.
